This walk brings Castlefield to life — from 19th century warehouses and hidden waterways, to quirky landmarks and the dramatic sweep of railway viaducts. You’ll discover ingenious engineering, surprising stories, and an insight into the city’s beginnings, all woven into a fascinating circular route. Expect striking contrasts, unexpected views and moments that reveal just how much of Manchester’s story was shaped right here.

Price - £15 per person / £10 for children under 16 / Children in prams or pushchairs free / No minimum charge.
Maximum number – 20 people. This is to ensure that quality is maximised and we do not cause congestion on Manchester’s streets.
Start and end point - outside No 1 St Peter’s Square, in front of the Atrium Coffee & Community Shop (which is within No 1 SPS – its sign is in the window).
Accessibility - the route has many steps and uneven ground alongside a canal, so unfortunately much of it is not suitable for wheelchairs.
