A walk that brings to life the history of Angel Meadow (one-time notorious slum and paupers’ graveyard) and the NOMA district. Expect gruesome stories and spectacular buildings.
This lively walk reveals the extraordinary layers hidden in and around Angel Meadow - from bold Edwardian powerhouses of the Co-Operative movement and quirky curiosities, to forgotten corners where Manchester’s past is still very visible. You’ll encounter remarkable architecture, a disappearing river, a monument to a local pioneer, and stories of resilience, reinvention and human drama. It’s a route full of contrasts: eerie, uplifting, surprising and often moving — a journey that shows just how much history is packed into this small but astonishing part of the city.

Price - £15 per person / £10 for children under 16 / Children in prams or pushchairs free / No minimum charge.
Maximum number – 20 people. This is to ensure that quality is maximised and we do not cause congestion on Manchester’s streets.
Start and end point - Victoria Station concourse - next to the fibreglass bee sculpture.
Accessibility - the route has some steep steps and uneven ground, so unfortunately parts are not suitable for wheelchairs. Weather - the walk will go ahead in all weathers, please be prepared for. changeable conditions. However, if I were to cancel due to extreme weather, a full refund will be given.
